What people mean by MEP estimating software
MEP estimating is the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing number. Not a general contractor bid board. Not a plan room. The invitation is already yours. The set is equipment schedules, one-lines, fixture counts, and a front end that can still disqualify you. The person who carries that number is a trade estimator or a preconstruction lead, not a GC pursuing coverage.
Search for this phrase and you land next to Trimble and McCormick. That is the right neighborhood. Trimble AutoBid is the seat many mechanical desks still name when they say “our estimating software.” Trimble Estimation MEP is the current Trimble MEP estimating product. McCormick is another estimating tool in the market. STACK and FastEST sit in the same takeoff aisle. This page names them so you know we are not pretending the aisle is empty. It does not claim those seats.
ArosBid includes takeoff and estimate and replaces Trimble AutoBid. That sentence is the estimating claim. Everything else on this page is the work that still has to happen after quantities exist, on the same desk, for the same three trades.
Three trades. One invitation. Different sheets.
Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing often arrive in the same ITB and then split. The chiller schedule and the controls boundary live on mechanical. Gear lead time, the feeder schedule, and Division 27/28 written as “by others” live on electrical. Medical gas certification, the site utility line, and insulation claimed in two sections live on plumbing. This hub does not reprint those traps. It is the estimating entry that points at them.
Roofing and steel are adjacent trade desks on this site, not MEP. They have their own industry pages. If your office bids more than one of those divisions, the product is still one isolated instance. The documents change. The gates do not.
Named pursuits used in the walkthrough, including Riverside Office Tower, are fictional demo data and labeled as such. This page does not invent a customer, a logo, a win rate, or a savings percentage.
What AutoBid was built for, and what Estimation MEP is
Trimble AutoBid is takeoff and estimating software used on mechanical and similar trade desks. Quantities live there. The estimate lives there. That is a scope fact. It is not a review of AutoBid’s screens, and it is not a list of things AutoBid does badly. We do not publish a crash list, a version list, or a hidden-fee story we cannot cite.
Trimble Estimation MEP is the current Trimble MEP estimating product. If a search result uses that name, it is still the Trimble estimating aisle. ArosBid’s replacement claim on this site is Trimble AutoBid, including takeoff and estimate. The named comparison is ArosBid vs AutoBid. This hub exists so “MEP estimating software” has a page that is about the trade desk, not a GC category.
McCormick can be named here as another tool in the market. It is not a displace target. There is no vs-McCormick page. There is no vs-STACK page. Autodesk Takeoff is not a keyword we write against. If your question is only “where do MEP quantities live,” those products are real answers. So is ArosBid. The difference we will stand on is that takeoff and estimate sit in the same workspace as the bid after the invitation lands.

The bid after the MEP quantities exist
A takeoff that is light on pipe or copper is checkable. A mandatory site visit buried in Division 01 is not a measurement error. A chiller that is 350 tons in the spec and 400 on drawing M-401 is not a measurement error. A vendor cover total that does not match its own itemization is not a measurement error. An addendum that reached the folder and not the person pricing gear is not a measurement error. Those are reading and coordination problems. They sit after quantities exist.
Intake recognizes the ITB and opens the pursuit. Document review cites dates, conflicts, liquidated damages, and alternates to the page that proves them. Bid/no-bid is scored against your own GC history, not a hallway guess. Vendor RFQs go out as packages built from the reviewed set. Leveling reconciles every total and lifts exclusions out of the fine print. Budget lands in Excel. The proposal is assembled from decisions you actually recorded. Readiness checks bonding, addenda, and gates before you submit.
Walk those stages on the platform page. The process comparison against a manual desk is on Compare. Tender review as a category is AI tender review. The inbound log for later changes is missed addenda. MEP takeoff as its own search is MEP takeoff software.
Invite sources are not estimating rivals
BuildingConnected, PlanHub, Dodge, ConstructConnect, SmartBid, and Procore are how work shows up or how documents move. They connect. They are not MEP estimating software. They are not the number. Confusing an invite source with an estimating seat is how a trade desk ends up shopping a GC bid board.
ArosBid starts after the invite is already yours. The trade contractor bid software page splits that audience from the GC “construction bid management” SERP. The process page is construction bid management software. This page stays on the estimating seat for MEP.
Money, instance, send authority
Every extension, sum, reconciliation, and allowance in ArosBid uses deterministic integer-cent code. No language model prices the job. The model’s job, where it has one, is reading: finding the table in a vendor PDF, locating the clause in the front end, matching an addendum to what was already priced. The instant numbers are extracted, they are handed to code.
Each customer gets an isolated instance: own database, own document store, own subdomain, Microsoft Entra ID. Customer bid data is not used to train public models. During training, nothing leaves without a recorded human approval. The mail connector will not release a send that does not cite that decision. It learns the pattern you already signed off, then automates it. L5 Autonomous is next. The approval gate does not move.
If you want the takeoff-only framing of the same product, use MEP takeoff software. If you want AutoBid’s combined job in one URL, use takeoff and estimating software. If you want the named replacement page, use vs AutoBid.
